NOBLE - Tri-State Crematory operator Ray Brent Marsh was charged Wednesday with 30 more counts of theft by deception by Georgia authorities in connection with the bodies found on his property.
Marsh now faces 204 charges in Georgia of theft by deception. Officials have discovered 339 corpses on the property around the Noble crematorium.
The 28-year-old Marsh has been in custody since last month for allegedly dumping the bodies behind his crematory rather than cremating them, as he was paid to do.
Authorities in nearby Tennessee's Bradley County said they will not take their case against Marsh before a grand jury Wednesday at the request of Georgia authorities.
Meanwhile in neighboring Hamilton County, Tennessee, authorities Tuesday launched their own investigation into whether the crematory violated Tennessee laws.
Since February 15, investigators have recovered 339 bodies on 16 acres behind Marsh's crematory. So far, 109 bodies have been identified.
County records show at least 250 bodies sent to the crematory since 1998 were from Tennessee. Tri-State also contracted with funeral homes in Alabama and Georgia.
