Prodded by Governor Barnes, the state Legislature approved tax-free shopping sprees for Thursday and today and again on August second and third. Exempted from state and local sales taxes are school supplies, clothing items under $100 and up to $1,500 spent on computers and accessories. <br>

Many retailers extended their hours and had extra employees working to handle the crowds for the Easter weekend.
