Johnson boys win fifth straight over Forsyth Central

GAINESVILLE - The Johnson High boys basketball team continued its hot play with an 82-59 rout of Forsyth Central at home Friday night.

The win was the fifth in a row for the Knights (12-9, 9-4 Region 7-AAA) who travel to Buford Saturday night.

In the girls game, the Lady Knights held off Forysth Central for a 61-59 win.

Johnson standout freshman Marqise Wright had 13 points but it was William DeLaPerriere who led the Knights with 28 points.

The Knights were hardly challenged in the second half leading by as many as 30 points as they easily pulled away for the win.

In other action Friday night, the Gainesville girls stayed on a roll with a 69-21 thumping of Gilmer on the road.

The Lady Elephants were led by Tasha Humphries' 26 points.

The Gainesville boys beat Gilmer 80-67 behind Brent Benson's 22 points and Javonte Williams' 21.

The North Hall boys found the going rough in Watkinsville dropping a 41-38 Region 8-AAAA game to Oconee County.

Ryan Franklin led the Trojans (11-11, 5-7) with 17 points but got little help from the rest of team. No other player scored in double figures.

North Hall never led the final six minutes of the game.

The North Hall girls did not fare much better losing 56-33 to Oconee.

The Lady Trojans kept it close in the first half but Oconee pulled away in the third quarter for the win.

East Hall swept Banks County at home with the boys winning 67-37 and the girls taking a 47-31 victory.

West Hall also achieved a sweep over Habersham Central. The boys took an 89-82 win behind Javon Randolph and Martrez Milner, who combined for 43 points.

The Lady Spartans whipped the Lady Raiders 74-49 behind Kasia Cunningham's 17 points.

Lakeview Academy swept Rabun Gap at home with the boys winning 62-49 and the girls taking a 68-31 win.
