DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — The Greater Atlanta Christian girls basketball team held off Dawson County, 58-47, to pick up the key Region 6-3A win at the Ford Phillips Center Thursday.
The Lady Spartans (12-10, 5-6 Region 6-3A) had three score in double digits, with Jaymee Carter leading the way with 18 points. GAC was 11-of-19 from the 3-point line.
The loss sets up a battle for third place in the region standings on Friday as the Lady Tigers )14-7, 7-4 Region 6-3A) host Chestatee (15-7, 7-4 Region 6-3A).
GAC remains in fifth place.
The Lady Spartans pushed their lead to 11 points, 26-15, in the second quarter, but Dawson County finished the half on an 8-0 to close the gap, 26-23.
In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers tacked on four more points to extend the run to 12-0 and tie the game 27-27.
However, GAC outscored Dawson County 16-9 in the final five minutes of the third quarter to take a 43-36 lead.
In the fourth, Dawson County rallied back to within three points with just over four minutes left. GAC closed the final three minutes, outpacing the Lady Tigers 13-5.
Eva Bishop led the Lady Tigers with 19 points. Maddie Siuta finished with 16.
GAC's Asia Johnson chipped in 15 points, and Dru Jeckewicz had 12.

After falling behind at the end of the first quarter, the Falcons rallied to the lead by halftime, 30-26, and never looked back in the win over Walnut Grove on Thursday.
Brayden Lee scored 22 points to lead the Falcons. John Osorio had 10. Jack Huey and Adam Sanders added eight points each, and Landon Mealor chipped in seven.
