DALTON - A Chatsworth man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in a drug-related fatal shootout last summer and was sentenced to 11 years in prison and nine years probation. <br>

The plea Friday by Floyd Ray Croy in the slaying of Timothy Ledon Horn of Dalton avoided a murder trial that was to begin Monday. <br>

Another man involved in the shootout, Hiram Paul Holloway of Tunnel Hill, pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated assault, avoiding an additional charge of aggravated battery. A judge set sentencing for Feb. 11. <br>

Police said the July shooting happened when Croy, 32, went to collect money Horn owed him for methamphetamines. Croy's girlfriend was shot in the face but recovered. <br>
<br>
District Attorney Kermit McManus said he believes the plea bargain was the best resolution to the Croy case because it would have been difficult to prove murder in a trial.
