The Owls (13-8, 10-4) missed several opportunities to clinch victory. After Mercer's Noel West hit a jumper with 17 seconds left to cut the Owls' lead to 72-71, Jeff Cowans missed two free throws to give the Bears a chance to break their losing streak, which now stands at 13. <br>

Aleem Muhammad led Mercer with 23 points. <br>

Florida Atlantic remains tied with Troy State, which beat Central Florida on Monday.
