ATLANAT - A Georgia expert in the treatment of alcohol, tobacco and drug addictions has died.

Doctor John Slade died late last month at a family home on Lake Burton. That's in Rabun County. His death has been ruled a suicide.

Slade co-edited the first comprehensive clinical textbook on nicotine addiction. He was a harsh critic of the tobacco industry -- with a license plate that said, ``No Cigs.''
A memorial service is scheduled for this afternoon in Princeton, New Jersey.
Doctor John Slade was 52 years old.
