Judge Johnnie Caldwell sentenced Laura Voyles, 38, on Monday after she pleaded guilty to having sex with a person in custody a felony. <br>

The former Starr's Mill High School teacher resigned shortly after her arrest in December. <br>
<br>
District Attorney Bill McBroom said the student is 18 now but was 17 when the affair began. McBroom told the judge the affair was consensual. <br>
<br>
The arrest warrant said Voyles had sex ``numerous times'' with the student between July and November at her home in Peachtree City. <br>
<br>
Voyles was arrested after the student's parents told authorities they were suspicious of the relationship.
