RINGGOLD - A Catoosa County couple have pleaded innocent to murder charges in the death of their infant son, who died from injuries caused by an explosion in a methamphetamine lab they operated.
Suzette Callaway, 27, and Christopher Hicks, 28, entered their pleas Friday in Catoosa County court. They were arrested in Kentucky in July, a month after 19-month-old Shelton Hicks died from injuries he suffered in the Feb. 7, 2001 explosion.
Callaway and Hicks originally were arrested on charges of operating a methamphetamine lab and released on bond. When the child died, authorities filed murder charges.
They also face federal drug charges related to the meth production.
They remain in the Catoosa County Jail.
