BRUNSWICK - The federal trial of a Brunswick doctor charged with plotting his wife's murder is to begin Tuesday.

The arrest of Doctor Carl Drury in August shocked his patients, some of whom sent letters of support to Drury in jail.

It also resurrected suspicions about the 1989 death of Drury's first wife, Peggy Adams Drury, whose cause of death is still listed as unknown.

Drury has remained mostly silent in the six months since his arrest. He pleaded innocent in October.

Prosecutors expect to make their case quickly, meaning a verdict is possible by the end of the week.
If convicted, Drury faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
