LINCOLNTON - Four students at Lincoln County High School were among seven people charged following an undercover drug investigation, officials said Wednesday.
More arrests are expected this week, said GBI Agent Mike Seigler, who declined to confirm the use of an undercover agent at the school.
Lincoln County Superintendent Randall Edmunds said the agent signed up for classes weeks ago and attended school while building cases.
Seigler said the drug operation took place off campus and on Feb. 12 five people were arrested, including two football players and two other students. Two more arrests were made Wednesday.
About 2.5 ounces of cocaine were purchased in two undercover buys, Seigler said.
In addition to the students, Henry Ralph Hardy Jr., 37, Travis Freeman, 22, and Markice Marrell Norman, 21, all of Lincolnton, were each charged with cocaine trafficking, Seigler said.
