EVERGREEN - A Georgia man accused of stealing an $89,000 motor home and drunkenly driving it down a south Alabama interstate remains a fugitive today after he fled in handcuffs following his arrest Sunday night.

Authorities say 26-year-old Christopher Manuel Milo of Ringgold, Georgia, remains at large for a second day after he fled on foot and eluded tracking dogs and a state police helicopter in densely wooded countryside.

Milo and 28-year-old David Elton Hird, also of Ringgold, were pulled over Sunday night after motorists called state troopers to report the motor home was weaving erratically as beer cans and trash were being thrown from the vehicle.

Milo was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, theft and escape. Hird was jailed in Conecuh County on a theft charge.

Authorities say the motor home was reported stolen from Shipp RV Sales, where Hird worked, and that Milo told them they were delivering it to Milo's mother in Miami.
