Gingrey leaves hospital after bypass surgery

ATLANTA - Rep.-elect Phil Gingrey left the hospital Monday after double bypass heart surgery last week.

Spokesman Rob Herriott said Gingrey was doing well.

Gingrey expects to be in Washington in January when the new Congress convenes.

The 60-year-old Republican underwent surgery Friday at Crawford Long Hospital.

He defeated Democrat Roger Kahn in November for the 11th Congressional District seat.

Gingrey is an obstetrician from Marietta. He was serving his second term in the state Senate when he left to run for Congress.
