BRUNSWICK - About three-dozen members of the Georgia Air National Guard's 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron have returned just in time for the holidays.
It was their second overseas deployment since the Septmber 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The Brunswick-based unit has been in high demand during the war on terrorism. It's one of the few military units in the nation that specializes in installing high-tech communications gear hotline phones, high-speed Internet lines, videoconference terminals in war zones.
Elements of the 224th were sent to Afghanistan during the unit's first nine-month deployment that began October 1, 2001. They returned home for six months before being called up again November 1.
