ATLANTA - An escapee from the Fulton County Jail facing charges in several violent crimes was described as dangerous in a public warning from a sheriff's officer.
Quwan Rogers, 22, of College Park, who fled before dawn Friday, ``should not be approached by anybody, based on the seriousness of the charges against him,'' Sgt. Clarence Huber said.
Rogers and his cellmate, Octavio Diaz, 33, of Atlanta crept down a rope made out of a bedsheet after escaping from their sixth-floor cell through a ventilation vent, Huber said.
Diaz fell to the ground and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment for serious but not life-threatening injuries, Huber said.
Rogers was jailed Oct. 10 on charges including false imprisonment, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, aggravated sodomy and rape.
East Point police Capt. Patricia Boyce said Rogers was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl, hitting her in the face with a rifle and threatening to kill her.
