ATHENS - The University of Georgia has decided not to notify parents when students get in trouble for drugs or alcohol.
School officials have put on hold a plan to report violations to parents because campus groups have shown concern about student privacy. Parents still will be notified on a case-by-case basis.
The vice president for student affairs -- Richard Mullendore -- says students are adults and should be treated that way.
Mullendore says responses of parents and students have been mixed.
Some say rules violations are between the students and the school. Others want to be informed of any infraction.
