WASHINGTON, D.C. - Michael Jordan says he'll retire for the third and final time after this season and resume his role as part owner of the Washington Wizards.

The Washington Post and the Carroll County Times say Jordan told reporters after Thursday's practice there is ''zero chance'' of him coming back again.

Jordan, who turns 40 in February, signed a two-year, two-point-one (m) million-dollar contract with Washington last year after stepping down from his executive duties.
He returned to the court last season because he said he still felt the need to compete.
Jordan played well for most of last season for Washington before he was forced out of the lineup with a knee injury requiring surgery.
This season, the five-time N-B-A Most Valuable Player is averaging over 16 and a-half points as a reserve. With the Wizards on a four-game losing streak, Jordan has told coach Doug Collins to play him more.
Jordan had retired twice before -- while playing with the Chicago Bulls.
