First lady honors libraries and museums for outstanding public service

WASHINGTON, D.C. - First lady Laura Bush honored six libraries and museums Tuesday for outstanding public service to their communities. Mrs. Bush told an audience of librarians and museum directors in the East Room of the White House that museums and libraries help build a nation of lifelong learners.'' <br>

The six institutions honored with the 2002 National Awards for Museum and Library Service include the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia and the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Pennsylvania. <br>

The others were the Wildlife Conservation Society at the Bronx Zoo; The Boundary County District Library in Idaho; the Hartford Public Library in Connecticut; and the Southwest Georgia Regional Public Library System in Georgia.
