Abuse allegations investigated at Emory University

ATLANTA - Emory University is investigating a complaint that a law school professor and Pulitzer Prize-winning author physically abused a staff member. <br> <br> The director of operations for Emory&#39;s law school -- Gloria Mann -- seeks a temporary restraining order against professor David Garrow. She claims the professor ``has a long history of inappropriate behavior, loss of temper and verbally attacking&#39;&#39; her. <br> <br> The complaint says on September 19 Garrow verbally abused Mann and later grabbed her by the wrists and pushed her backwards when she tried to walk away. <br> <br> Garrow denies the allegations. <br> <br> An arrest warrant for the 49-year-old Garrow was issued September 24. He was charged with simple battery -- a misdemeanor --, arrested by Emory police and later released from the DeKalb County Jail after posting a $120 bond. <br> <br> The university is conducting an internal review. <br> <br> Garrow won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for his book ``Bearing the Cross: Martin Luther King Junior and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.&#39;&#39;
