Nigerian man charged with trying to cash in on Sept. 11 attacks

ATLANTA - Federal officials accused a Nigerian man Friday with faking his wife&#39;s death to cash in on the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. <br> <br> William Omuna, who federal officials say has been living illegally in Georgia since at least 1995, sent a claim to the Federal Emergency Management Agency last November for financial help, saying his wife died at the World Trade Center, according to the U.S. Attorney&#39;s Office. <br> <br> ``When somebody tries to defraud the system and seeks to get compensation which is not intended for them, but is intended for victims of tragedy, it is our duty to protect the integrity of these programs,&#39;&#39; U.S. Attorney William Duffey said. <br> <br> Omuna, 43, is being detained in South Carolina. Officials say he will be arraigned in the next several days, and arrangements are being made to bring him back to Georgia for his initial court appearance.
