ATLANTA - The mother charged with murder after leaving her three-year-old daughter in a sweltering car has said goodbye to her daughter.
Nakia Burgess was allowed to visit Asan'te's body at a Decatur funeral home before the child's body was returned to Trenton, New Jersey, for burial.
A Fulton County judge later set a $40,000 bond for Burgess. She could be released in time to attend her daughter's funeral later this week.
Asan'te died October 2 after Burgess left her in a car for several hours while she went to work.
Burgess's attorney -- Phinia Aten -- says the family is trying to raise money to pay for her bond and for her daughter's funeral.
Aten says Burgess left Asan'te, who had Down syndrome, in the car because she had nowhere after day-care arrangements fell through.
