ATLANTA - A three-year-old boy is hospitalized today after being struck by a sport utility vehicle. <br>

Brandon Jackson of Powder Springs was trying to get a toy from across the street about 5 p.m. Tuesday. He somehow managed to get out of the house, where his father was taking care of him. <br>

Police say the boy's father was inside the house helping another child with homework. No charges are planned against the driver of a 1997 Ford Explorer that hit the boy. <br>

The boy's family members say he underwent emergency brain surgery last night at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite.
