Private company to take over Fort Benning repair, maintenance

FORT BENNING - A private contractor will soon take over much of Fort Benning&#39;s maintenance, repair and logistics operation. <br> <br> Shaw Infrastructure will take over in January. It&#39;ll employ about 500 workers -- 100 fewer than the civilian employees that currently work on the base. <br> <br> The jobs affected by the new contract include aircraft mechanics, avionics repair people, carpenters, electricians, plumbers and administrative clerks. <br> <br> Shaw business manager Skip Dunham says existing government employees will have to be interviewed to keep their jobs.
