Georgia and Alabama drug ring defendants are sentenced

ATLANTA - A West Point man received life in prison and 18 others were sentenced Friday for charges relating to a cocaine and crack cocaine drug operation in Georgia and Alabama. <br>

According to a federal Department of Justice bulletin, 50-year-old Donald Brooks was sentenced to life in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Jack Camp. <br>

In addition, 30-year-old Houston Lee Barnes Junior of LaGrange, was sentenced to 21 years, ten months in prison. Lorenzo Dean Bandy, a 23-year-old from West Point, and George Davis, a 30-year-old from Lanett, Alabama, each received a 20-year prison sentence. <br>

The U-S Attorney office said between January 1992 through June 2001 the defendants conspired to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine in LaGrange, West Point and nearby parts of West Georgia and Eastern Alabama. <br>
<br>
More than 16 kilograms of cocaine, a kilogram of crack cocaine and more than $425,000 have been seized in the operation. Property in LaGrange, more than $200,000 in cash, more than $85,000 in bank accounts and ten vehicles were forfeited.
