MARIETTA - Life University Monday began the process of trying to re-establish its academic credentials after losing its accreditation Sunday.
But the university can not win back its accreditation until June at the earliest.

That puts the school's survival in jeopardy.
Life officials say the school planned to submit an application letter Monday to the Council on Chiropractic Education, the organization that first revoked the program's accreditation June 10.

University spokesman Will Hurst says the school will go through the same accreditation process as any start-up chiropractic school would.
Hurst says reaccreditation will include a self-study of its chiropractic program by the university.

Council on Chiropractic Education members will examine the program during a site visit.
Accreditation is needed for the school's graduates to be licensed in most states.
The council in June cited academic deficiencies, including inadequate instruction in diagnosis and supervision of students in the public clinics.
The revocation came after a 12-month probation period.
