Life University loses appeal, starts process for reaccreditation

MARIETTA - Life University Monday began the process of trying to re-establish its academic credentials after losing its accreditation Sunday. <br> <br> But the university can not win back its accreditation until June at the earliest. <br> <br> That puts the school&#39;s survival in jeopardy. <br> <br> Life officials say the school planned to submit an application letter Monday to the Council on Chiropractic Education, the organization that first revoked the program&#39;s accreditation June 10. <br> <br> University spokesman Will Hurst says the school will go through the same accreditation process as any start-up chiropractic school would. <br> <br> Hurst says reaccreditation will include a self-study of its chiropractic program by the university. <br> <br> Council on Chiropractic Education members will examine the program during a site visit. <br> <br> Accreditation is needed for the school&#39;s graduates to be licensed in most states. <br> <br> The council in June cited academic deficiencies, including inadequate instruction in diagnosis and supervision of students in the public clinics. <br> <br> The revocation came after a 12-month probation period.
