ATLANTA - Emory University's nursing school has received $5 million toward an endowment to provide scholarships to students and address the nationwide nursing shortage.
It's the largest single gift in the nursing school's history, university officials announced Friday.
The Helene Fuld Health Trust, a private foundation that exclusively supports nursing students and nursing education, made the donation. The school will receive $1 million annually for five years.
The money will support the school's Nursing Segue Program, which is for individuals who already have bachelor's degrees in non-nursing fields, but then enter nursing school.
Graduates of the three-year program receive both bachelor's and master's of science degrees in nursing.
