Registered sex offender pleads guilty

SMYRNA - A Georgia man registered as a sex offender in North Carolina has been sentenced to life in prison. <br> <br> Twenty-nine-year-old Danny Wayne Broady of Smyrna was scheduled to go to trial yesterday morning. Instead, he pleaded guilty to kidnapping and molesting a seven-year-old girl in February. <br> <br> The girl was playing with other children in the playground at the Madison Station apartment complex when a man grabbed her and took her to a ditch in nearby woods. Police say the man tried to rape her but she was able to fight him off. <br> <br> Broady - who was arrested February 15th - faced charges of kidnapping with bodily injury, aggravated assault and intent to rape, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent behavior. <br> <br> Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head says he entered a plea so he could avoid a trial and be eligible for parole. <br> <br> Cobb County Superior Court Judge George Kreeger sentenced Broady to life plus 61 years.
