MONCKS CORNOR, SOUTH CAROLINA - A Danville, Kentucky, man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison as part of a plea agreement in the shooting death of a drinking buddy.
Forty-year-old Raymond Pendygraft admitted killing Darren Driggers in June 2001 after the two got into a fight while they were arm-wrestling.

He was charged with murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years.
Defense attorney George Bishop Junior said Pendygraft and Driggers were good friends, but on the night of the killing, Driggers head-butted Pendygraft while they were arm-wrestling.

Bishop said the pair then got into a fight that ended with Pendygraft being knocked unconscious.

When Pendygraft regained consciousness, he said he saw Driggers removing things from the home.

Confused, drunk and angry, Pendygraft said he grabbed a shotgun and fired on Driggers, who was seated in his car.
Pendygraft dumped Driggers' body in a wooded area near Union Point, Georgia, and Driggers' car was found nearby.
