KKK in Tennessee to hold MLK Day protest, Georgians expected to attend

NEWPORT, TENNESSEE - Klansman from Kentucky and Georgia are expected to attend a Ku Klux Klan rally scheduled in Cocke County two days before Martin Luther King Day. A Tennessee Klan leader says the rally is intended to protest the holiday and promote ``Americanism.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Scott Fultz is grand dragon of the Tennessee White Knights of Yahweh, a KKK chapter based in Morristown, Tennessee. <br> <br> He said attendants will celebrating Robert E. Lee&#39;s birthday and talk about American sovereignty, imbalance in immigration and the loss of jobs to immigrants. <br> <br> The white supremacist organization was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee. Officials say the planned rally on January 19 at Newport, some 50 miles east of Knoxville, would be the first in the area since the 1970s. <br> <br> The Alabama White Knights is promoting the event on its Web site, saying it will feature speakers, a march and a ``huge cross-lighting ceremony.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Newport Mayor Roland Dykes is the first black mayor in the history of this town of 7,100 residents. He says the Klansmen have a right to express themselves but feels the rally will be demeaning to the community.
