WASHINGTON - The U.S. military plane carrying at least seven Marines that crashed into a mountain in Pakistan was built at Lockheed Martin Company in Marietta, Georgia.
The company confirmed this afternoon that the KC-130 was built about 1976 at the Marietta facility. A spokeswoman at Lockheed referred additional questions about the aircraft to the Marine Corps.
A search-and-rescue mission was launched but there was no word on casualties.
In a brief statement, U.S. Central Command said the names of the service members were being withheld until their relatives had been informed of the crash.
