PHILADELPHIA - A handcuffed carjacking suspect threw himself through a plate-glass window in the district attorney's office and plunged eight floors to his death Wednesday, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, had his hands cuffed behind his back at the time and was being escorted by two detectives to an arraignment, said district attorney's spokeswoman Cathie Abookire.
"He jiggled free, ran 10 feet and threw himself out a plate-glass window," she said.
The man said nothing before he leaped, Abookire said.
Neither detective had struggled with the man beforehand, she said.
Police are investigating.
