GAINESVILLE - Three people, two of them children, were injured in a grinding accident on Thompson Bridge Road near Lakewood Baptist Church late Wednesday afternoon.
The children, ages 11 and 9, were airlifted in serious condition to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta. The car driven by their mother, Lee Harney of Gainesville, was struck in the passenger's side by a car driven by Jack Lowman of Murrayville.
The State Patrol is unclear at this time if she was trying to avoid another car or turn into the entrance of the church as she was traveling northbound. She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with a concussion.
Lowman suffered no injuries in the accident. Charges are pending a toxicology report.
