ATLANTA - The Fulton County grand jury indicted a 38-year-old Fayetteville man Tuesday on murder charges in the death of his wife, whose remains were found on a hog farm more than two years after she disappeared.
Jim Watson was arrested at his Fayetteville home shortly after the indictment was returned.
His wife, Beverly C. Watson, 33, disappeared on Jan. 18, 1997 from her home. Her bones were found in March 1999 on a farm near Fairburn in south Fulton County. Her husband was considered a suspect in her death, but police did not file charges.
Watson's attorney, Lee Sexton of Jonesboro, said he welcomed the chance to try the case ``and put this chapter in Jim Watson's life behind him.''
In August 2000, Watson settled a wrongful death suit filed by his wife's family seeking to prevent him from collecting any insurance money from her death. Watson agreed to allow all the funds to go to the couple's two children.
