WINTERVILLE - Two children have died in a house fire near Winterville east of Athens. <br>

Athens-Clarke Fire Chief Wendell Faulkner says firefighters found the bodies inside the wood frame house after they arrived early Wednesday morning. <br>

The victims are identified as ten-year-old Lonnie Richardson and his four-year-old cousin, Kathy Ruth Davenport. <br>
<br>
Autopsies show the children died of smoke and soot inhalation. <br>
<br>
Two adults in the house at the time of the fire escaped without injury. <br>
<br>
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
