Volunteers taking care of state parks

ATLANTA - Vogel State Park near Blairsville is one of a number of Georgia State Parks where officials say volunteers are making a difference.<br> <br> Volunteers have become more and more active in Georgia&#39;s Parks since 1995. <br> <br> The advocacy group, Friends of Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites, includes a group that contributes to the upkeep of Vogel.<br> <br> Volunteers staff the museum at the park and have raised money to by equipment for the park. <br> <br> The organization has volunteers at 22 of Georgia&#39;s 63 State Parks.<br> <br> It&#39;s president is Garland Reynolds who says &#34;Lawmakers always want to build new state parks and they always want to build golf courses, but they don&#39;t want to fund maintenance and operations.&#34;
