For years, Dacula, Ga.’s Russell Fleeman has been a force to be reckoned with on asphalt short tracks around the southeast.

As has been said many times before, no matter who is flagged the winner, a race truly isn’t over until everyone has passed post-race technical inspection.

Bubba Russell charged his way to the front of the field, and held off David McCoy to score the Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series victory Saturday night at Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, Ga.

Despite the threat of rain, the show went on at Greenville Pickens Speedway in Easley, S.C., as Trey Gibson raced from the back of the field to score the Late Model Stock victory at the historic Upstate half mile.

Brandon Sheppard put his experience at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL to good use Saturday night, mastering the quarter-mile oval to score a $15,050 victory in the Douglas Ram Trucks Illini 100 finale.

Christopher Bell put on a driving clinic en route to the victory in the Super Late Model portion of the Orange Blossom 300 at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC for the CARS Racing Tour Saturday night.

Before Friday’s Douglas Ram Trucks Illini 100 opening night event, Scott Bloomquist hadn’t raced at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Ill. in more than a decade.

At 17 years old, making only his seventh K&N Pro Series East start, Kyle Benjamin, driver of the No. 27 Eibach Ford, raced side-by-side with William Byron, driver of the No. 9 Liberty University Chevrolet, with less than 30 laps remaining.

Scott Dixon, who entered the weekend with just one top-five finish in eight Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach starts, won the 41st edition of the historic street race by 2.2221 seconds over polesitter Helio Castroneves.

It took only eight minutes of the first of three knockout qualifying rounds for the nine-year-old Long Beach track record to fall.
