By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Clayton man was arrested Friday after fleeing police amid an investigation into alleged battery.

A social media post from the Rabun County Sheriff's Office said officers were called to the scene in the city of Clayton on Wednesday, August 30. When they arrived, however, the suspect had fled.

The suspect was identified as Caleb Bryce Wilson, age 23. He was reportedly sighted during a traffic stop the next day before again fleeing on foot in the area of Old Chechero Street.

The sheriff's office asked the public for help locating Wilson before ultimately finding and arresting him on Friday. Wilson was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center Saturday on charges of Aggravated Battery and Cruelty to Children in the 3rd Degree.

As of Sunday afternoon, Wilson remained in the detention center without bond.
