After a 6-0 week, University of North Georgia softball players Kylee Smith and Hobby Gregory were named the Peach Belt Conference's Pitcher and Freshman of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

In five appearances, two in relief, Smith went 5-0, striking out 30 batters in 26.2 innings of work. The sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, leads the PBC in strikeouts (156) and wins (17). She also ranks second in the league with a 0.99 ERA. Smith now has four Pitcher of the Week honors to her name, and this is her second of the year.

Gregory notched a hit in all six games this week, going 7-for-15 with a homer, three runs scored and five RBI. She went 5-for-11 in conference play, including a two-hit game against UNC Pembroke Sunday. She rounded out her week with a .467 batting average and a .733 slugging percentage. This is Gregory's first weekly honor of her career.

The No. 2 Nighthawks will battle Francis Marion on Wednesday at Haines and Carolyn Hill Stadium. First pitch of the twinbill is set for 3 p.m.
