CAMDEN, S.C. — Lawson King shot a 71 in the opening round to lead the University of North Georgia men's golf team in the first round of the Coker Fall Challenge at Camden Country Club. The Nighthawks are in seventh place after an opening round 290 (+10).

King sits in a 10-way tie for 15th place, six shots off the lead of Lincoln Memorial's Sam Broadhurst, who shot five-under on the day. Tanner Merck and Harry White each shot 72, while Ryan Hogan rounded out the scoring four with a 75.

No. 6 Limestone leads the way in the team standings after shooting an even-par 280 as a team. No. 10 Lincoln Memorial is five shots back in second, followed by Coker, Young Harris and Queens.

The second 18 holes of the day were rained out, so the event has been shortened to a 36-hole tournament. The final round will start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow morning.
