DAHLONEGA — The University of North Georgia men's basketball team has partnered with Piedmont College to collect $636 to give to TEAM RUBICON's Hurricane Irma relief efforts. The contribution was derived from the proceeds from Monday (Nov. 6) evening's exhibition game in Memorial Hall.

"The exhibition was a great opportunity for our teams to get a final game-like look at our teams as we head into our season openers," stated UNG head coach Chris Faulkner. "The real winner on the night is TEAM RUBICON and we are honored to partner with Coach Neeley's team to help their cause."

North Georgia led wire-to-wire in a 105-86 win over the Lions using a balanced scoring attack that featured six Nighthawks in double figures. Tyler Dean led the way with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. As a team, UNG connected on 16-of-29 (55%) shots from long range.

The two schools activated an NCAA waiver for the event, where all ticket revenue and donations were collected for a charity of the schools' choice.

Team Rubicon's primary mission is providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters, be they domestic or international. By pairing the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders, medical professionals, and technology solutions, Team Rubicon aims to provide the greatest service and impact possible.

North Georgia will officially open the season on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. against Emmanuel at the Georgia College Bobcat Crossover Classic.
