Hall County Elections

Voters are casting ballots in runoffs for a Georgia Supreme Court seat, a spot on the state Appeals Court and a number of local posts today.

It's back to the polls on Tuesday in Georgia for the General Election runoffs.

Advance voting is getting underway across the state today ahead of next Tuesday's judicial runoffs. Early voting began in some locations, including Gainesville, last week. (See earlier story.)

County-by-county elections results

Carl Rogers and James Mills, two Hall County Republicans, coasted to re-election in Tuesday's General Election.

According to city officials, James "Mike" Miller won the election with 410 votes. Miller's opponent, Mike Pitts, received 143 votes.

Confident of major gains, Republicans challenged the Democrats' grip on power in Congress on Tuesday in midterm elections shadowed by recession and stirred by the rebellion of tea party conservatives, and a heavy voter turnout was reported through mid-afternoon across the country.

There will be something new this time arond when it comes to countng votes in Hall County: election workers will start counting absentee ballots at 4:00 this afternoon, three hours before the polls close.

Few local contested races will be on the ballot when northeast Georgians go to the polls on Tuesday.
