Ga. voters heading back to the polls today

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA - Voters are casting ballots in runoffs for a Georgia Supreme Court seat, a spot on the state Appeals Court and a number of local posts today.

Supreme Court Justice David Nahmias is looking to fend off a challenge from attorney Tammy Lynn Adkins in Tuesday's runoff. He received roughly 48 percent of the vote in the Nov. 2 election, compared to 35 percent for Adkins.

Since neither candidate receive 50 percent plus one vote, a runoff was set.

Meanwhile, Antoinette Davis and Chris McFadden are vying for an open seat on the state Appeals Court. Voters must also pick Superior Court judges for the Atlanta, Macon and Stone Mountain circuits. There are also races for district attorney in several circuits and a number of school board, county commission, mayoral and city council races on ballots across the state.

Anyone eligible to vote on Nov. 2 is eligible to cast a ballot today. Polls close at 7 p.m.
