Talmadge A. Cofer, age 83, of Nicolson, GA, formerly of Gwinnett County, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020. He was preceded in death by parents, Bob and Hester Cofer. Mr. Cofer is survived by his wife of forty years, Marian Reese Welch Cofer, Nicholson; son, Mark (Barbara) Welch, Ballground, GA; four grandchildren, Bo and Melissa Welch, Ballground, Cole Welch, Ballground, Morgan Browne, Talking Rock, CA, Travis Carrier, Sacramento, CA; sister, Clara Mae Cofer Bailey, Buford, GA; brother, Frankie (Jean) Cofer, Woodstock, GA; sister-in-law, Cam Cofer, Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Larry (Shirley) Reese, Winder, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Cofer was born on September 3, 1936 in Buford, GA. He received his education at Harmony School. Mr. Cofer was retired from Jefferson City Schools after thirty years as a custodian, and he also worked at Buford City Schools for twenty-one years as a custodian. In his earlier years, he was a farmer and did gardening. Mr. Cofer was a member and Deacon at New Hope Christian Church in Lawrenceville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. J. B. Reese and Rev. James Sheldon officiating. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends and other family members from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23.
