Ethel Hooper Smith

Ethel Hooper Smith, age 91, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Friday, March 13, 2020. 

In consideration of the needs for community safety and for the personal health of Ethel’s beloved family and friends, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Ethel was born March 1, 1929, a lifelong resident of Hall County. She was an active member of Northlake Baptist Church. Ethel was well-known as a hairdresser at her own beauty shop and later as a barber at Whelchel’s Barber Shop.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Smith and her son Lamar Smith. 

Ethel is survived by her daughter Deb Smith, her daughter-in-law Paula Smith, her grandson Brandon Smith, his wife Stephanie O’Toole Smith and her soon to be great grandson Brody Lamar Smith; she is also survived by her sister Micki Hurley and brother Donald Hooper and numerous other relatives.

Per Ethel’s request, in lieu of flowers, she asks that a donation be made to the Northlake Baptist Church Building Fund, 4823 Thompson Bridge Ridge, Murrayville, Georgia, 30506.
