Robert W. Hoppe, Jr.

Robert W. “Rob” Hoppe, Jr., age 71, of Dacula, GA passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Thelma Wade Hoppe. He is survived by his children, Suzy and Brian Jones, Sugar Hill, GA, Jennifer and Rex Ramirez, Carbondale, IL; grandchildren, Eugene Jones, Valentina Jones, Braxton Ramirez, Alexander Ramirez; brothers, Allan Hoppe, Charlotte, NC, Randy Johnson, Charlotte, NC, Gavin and Janice Hoppe, Houston, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hoppe was born on August 15, 1948 in Charlotte, NC. He was a 1967 graduate of Meyers Park High School and studied at the Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, NC. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army for four years during the Vietnam Era. He was owner of Hoppe Computer Company in Dacula, GA and an agent for Primerica Insurance Co. He was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, GA. He was a member of the Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society; his ham radio operator handle was “KI4SBT”. He was also a member of the North Georgia Live Steamers, Train Hobby Group. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and Coca Cola collector.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Wynn officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 8th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Monday, March 9th from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gwinnett Amateur Radio Society (gars.org) or North Georgia Live Steamers (northgeorgialivesteamers.org) in memory of Rob Hoppe.
