Frank James Haera, Jr

Frank James Haera, Jr. of Cumming, Georgia died peacefully on March 3, 2020.  He was 78 years old.  Born in Rockland County, N.Y. he was the son of Frank James Haera Sr. and Josephine Bednar Haera, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Susan J. Sprague in 2018.

Frank graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1959 and lived most of his life in Haverstraw, N.Y.  He retired in 1997 after 35 years with the Rockland County Department of Health and moved to West Palm Beach, FL in 1998.  He was very active in the community being Past President of the Haverstraw Jaycees, Past President of the Haverstraw Lions Club, Past President of the Rockland County Building Officials Assoc., former member of General Warren Emergency Co. #2 in the Village of Haverstraw, and a life member of Haverstraw B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #877.

Frank was very active in politics serving 8 years as Trustee in the Village of Haverstraw, 6 years as Mayor, over 8 years as councilman for the Town of Haverstraw, over 10 years as a member of the Haverstraw Joint Regional Sewerage Board and Chairman of the Village of Haverstraw Democratic Committee.

He is survived by his beloved wife Wendy Quin Haera of 50 years of marriage, his daughterJenna Adare Haera of Cumming, Georgia, his son James Christopher Haera (Heather) of Valley Cottage, N.Y. and three wonderful grandchildren, Christopher Sprague of Wurtsboro, N.Y. and Anthony and Jenni Haera both of Valley Cottage, N.Y. Frank is also survived by his loving pet Teddy who misses him so much.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 11:00am to 12:00pm at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, located at 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA. 

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 12:00pm.

Interment will take place immediately following at Sawnee View Cemetery, 1390 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming, GA.
