Mrs. Earnestine Pitts Dean Brown passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at her home from an extended illness.
A daughter of the late Garnett and Viola Pitts, she was born on June 27, 1940 in Habersham County. She lived most of her life in Stephens County and was employed by and retired from Coats & Clark manufacturing company after more than 25 years of service. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for several years and was active with the Benevolence Committee and various other church activities. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents and by her husbands, Mr. Charles E. Dean and Mr. Joe Brown both of Toccoa as well as a brother Mr. Earl Pitts of Mt. Airy.
Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Terrell and Lavonne A. Dean of Toccoa, a son and daughter-in-law, Earnest Darryl and Sharon Dean of Commerce, a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dale Cheek of Toccoa and a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Jeffery Lee and Barbara Dean of Forsyth Georgia; sisters, Mrs. Irene McAllister of Mt. Airy and Mrs. Amelia Cash of Toccoa; Brothers, Mr. Edward Pitts of Cornelia, Mr. Clifton Pitts of Cornelia, Mr. Bruce Pitts of Mt. Airy and Mr. Swain Pitts of Mt. Airy; Eleven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great- great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 4, 2020 at 2 P.M. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Reverend Roy Bainey and the Reverend Jeffery Lee Dean officiating. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers Eric Dean, Adam Dean, Charlie Cheek, Charles Dean, A.J. Cheek and Treyvin Cheek.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
