Mr. John Gregory “Greg” Greene, age 50, of Dahlonega passed away Friday, February 28, 2020.
Greg was born in Aberdeen, Washington on December 14, 1969. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Dr. and Mrs. H.B. Forester, paternal grandparents Ralph and Frances Greene, maternal grandparents Judge John and Amy Harkness, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Leon and Edith Mincey.
Greg had a heart as big as life itself. He loved his friends and family and always helped anybody at anytime. He did not like to say no to anyone who might need him. As big as his heart was, so was his love for his two children. From Harry Potter marathons on TV to trips to Disney World, Greg was always finding time to spend with Taylor and Dalton. He loved camping and finding himself a spot on the ocean to do some saltwater fishing. He also enjoyed helping Mike and Lynn Cottrell with the event set-ups at Cottrell Ranch. Greg loved his dog ‘Honey’ that he rescued one year during Gold Rush. One of his favorite pastimes was helping his friend Radford Windham with his concerts. Greg was employed with the Lumpkin County School System as the Maintenance Director.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Taylor and Tyler Flatt; son and daughter-in-law Dalton and Kaleigh Greene; grandson Ridge Gregory Flatt due in July; mother Babs Greene, all of Dahlonega; father and step-mother Dr. Harry and Carol Greene, Tallapoosa, GA; sister and brother-in-law Jenna and Nathan Marshall; nephew Jack Marshall, Dahlonega; Taylor and Dalton’s mom Sadie Dishman, Dahlonega; aunts and uncles Jack and Jere Harkness, Tallahassee, FL, and Amy and Greg Laseter; cousin Justin Martinez, Dahlonega; uncles and aunts David and Connie Greene, Tallapoosa, GA, and Ralph and Lesa Greene, Dalton; and friends Mike and Lynn Cottrell.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2020 at Nimblewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Barrett will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the funeral home.
