Earl Edwin “Ed” Standridge, loving husband, Daddy, and Granddaddy, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the age of 82. Born October 5, 1937 in Dallas, Georgia, Ed grew up in Powder Springs, Georgia and moved to Forsyth County in 1978. He is preceded in death by his mother, Opal Thomason, and his brother, Johnny Thomason.
While working on the rooftop of his uncle’s house, he spotted his future wife driving by in her dad’s 55 Chevy. Within three months, he married Dell Fowler at the preacher’s house in Dallas. For over 61 years, he has never failed to tell her how pretty she is and how much he loves her every day. He was always ready to make repairs to their home that would make things better for her and their four girls. He was proud of each of his girls and always provided them with good, free sound advice. Ed owned Standridge Well Drilling for 26 years, and it is now in the 3rd generation serving people for over 79 years. He was a faithful Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church of Forsyth County, and he loved hearing his wife and family sing his favorite good-ole gospel songs. He reminds us all to remember where our help comes from. Ed loved traveling in their RV after retiring 34 years ago. He was always planning the next trip before getting back home again. Ed and Dell often held hands while driving the back roads and interstates across 49 states, Canada, and Mexico, and he always found a place for a picnic and a Pepsi. He enjoyed it even more when his girls and their families could travel with them.
He was a quiet man of faith and integrity. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him and got a laugh out of his dry humor. He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Dell, and his four girls and their families: Cindy and Gary Bennett, Susan and Herbert Barnes, Kandi Bolton and Max Bolton, and Kelly Standridge along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also blessed to have a helpful friend, Stanley Wright, two brothers, Lance and David Standridge, a sister, Brenda Hutchinson, nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws in the Fowler family. With all of our love-Deuteronomy 31:6.
